did they ASK us to bring them Democracy? (by force). did the CIA take a survey and ask the Iraqi people if they would like a Democratic government? Oh, it's better for them than what they have, right?

you know, the British thought the same thing when they tried to force Christianity and "civilization" on other parts of the world that they annexed into their empire.they failed.
the Crusades tried to do the same thing. How Christian is the middle east now?

I can completely see Anotonio's point, not that i agree. There people in here that are so enveloped in their right-wing or left-wing sympathies that they can't even objectively see from the "other side".
I am not pro-war or anti-war. I think we should use it when absolutely necessary as the LAST means of resort (such as WWII). I think we are in more danger of an imminent threat from PRK than we have ever been from Iraq. Funny thing is, there isn't a drop of oil in PRK. Im not saying that IS the reason why blah blah blah. im just saying its a fact and i think there is much more to this war in Iraq (that supposedly ended half a year ago?) than we are being made aware of. The upper echelons of government do not exactly share their information/agendas with the public or military rank and file.
I have a cousin in Iraq right now. he was in the Watchdogs http://slate.msn.com/id/2109447/ and is now supporting them with a private contractor. he is risking his neck over there for some serious $ but i think he also gets a kick out of Iraqis getting wasted. I think that maybe his Marine mentality but i wouldnt know, im not one (no offense to UMSC, just serious asskickers)
My father and two uncles were in the Army during Vietnam. only one of my uncles went. My dad told me JUST last night how much he is against the draft. I asked, "was it because mostly poor and middle class kids who werent in college had to go?" and he said,"even worse. there was big stink back then that out of all the members in congress and the senate only THREE had children in the military! one had a son in Nam and the other two had cushy jobs at the Pentagon." he said he remembered how much congress was SO much in favor of sending troops over there. and for what?! to bring Democracy to the people of South Vietnam? well, they have been under Communist rule for 30+ years now and are doing pretty damn good, better than Iraq! im not pro-communism, the least thing from it, but Im just not so sure we should send "storm troopers" around the globe to institute our beliefs. If there is a SERIOUS concern of a dangerous threat to us or our close allies then that is a different story. That, has yet to be proven. we are now simply on missionary's quest to save the heathens from their own guaranteed demise.
