I'd hit it!

That sounds fine and dandy til it becomes time to actually start fabricating EVERYTHING. To most people, it SOUNDS feasable... but really, it just isn't worth the cost, trouble, headaches, and unknown territory you face when doing this. You are talking about moving and redoing pretty much EVERYTHING under the car, let alone, cutting the axle down to fit, changing out the front suspension (cause there's no way that even a 302 will fit with the stock setup)gas tank would need to be moved, and god knows about the tranny, you'd have to cut out an opening in the floor under the cosnole to fit that sucker up and in the car so it wasn't draggin on the ground. You'd have to adapt some kinda console to cover the large behemith tranny that is now sticking through the floor past the CD player (exagerating a bit), and you know we's gotta have our CD's??!!

And besides, even if you did have this set up and built.... ya know how much that beast will weigh? Reinforcement, reinforcement, reinforcement. Usually people don't repsond liek this.. it is usually someone saying... "Why, just put a 3L with a quaife and some bolt on's.... that'd be just as good." But I feel ya broth er, nothing would be more cool to roll up next to a mustang, camaro, GTO, or what have you, and not only sound like your cars pissed off like it didn't get no nookie last night, it also beats the piss out of them all aswell. Makes me droll thinking about it. But, logic comes first in the real world.
Oh, and I'm not out to be the burster of boubles, if you got the skills, by all means, make this a reality and make every CEG'er envy you.
