brought home the beater today. 1993 taurus 3.8L 60,074 miles 1 owner clean as a whistle a couple little scratches and dings runs and drives awesome $500 woohoo!!!    
NY State Trooper: So what makes your car so special to have SVT all over it?
Me: Er...It was made by Fords SPECIAL Vehicle Team?

I would just watch the transmission, we had ours fail as many others did, but ours was a 89 wagon and my friends parents had a 87 so you might be alright
I would hope Ford would have fixed the issue by then
edit: I just looked up out the window after making this post and saw a early 90's Taurus drive by 
it was red too

yeah, there is a lot of red on this car.
the paint has a kinda purple hue to it though.
and the paint is a lot nicer than it looks in the pics.
it hasnt been washed since teh dealer got it about a month ago.

not to hijack, but how much snow did you guys get??? My friend called me last night to tell me he had a run in with a cop that turned out to be a friend of mine because they were wrestling around in the snow. I didn't realize that you guys had a storm already. We just got flurries here in ny the other day

My parents had four Tauri: 86 Taurus, 87 Sable wagon, 89 Sable, 93 Taurus wagon. The 86 and 89 had tranny problems IIRC (definitely a first gen problem). Not too sure about the rest.
You'd be the envy of my dad, his '93 wagon was his favorite family car ... still misses it to this day!

we got about 5-6 in lowell.
there is about 1-2 left on the ground in some spots.
