I would just watch the transmission, we had ours fail as many others did, but ours was a 89 wagon and my friends parents had a 87 so you might be alright

My parents had four Tauri: 86 Taurus, 87 Sable wagon, 89 Sable, 93 Taurus wagon. The 86 and 89 had tranny problems IIRC (definitely a first gen problem). Not too sure about the rest.
You'd be the envy of my dad, his '93 wagon was his favorite family car ... still misses it to this day!
