No nails to bite anymore! Anyway thanks for the input, I think this is leaning towards pulling the motor out no matter what, which is what I'm trying to avoid all in all. A few hundred or so is not a big deal to repair but pulling the motor for the third time owning this vehicle does. $2000 for removal and install, or a whole ton of my busy time to do it myself, it's costly either way to me. I'm gonna be taking a pic of the car and putting it up for sale in the local classifieds, see what I can get for it as is . Doesn't hurt to try at this point, either way I'm gonna lose money. Next project, either a 180SX or a 350z/G35. Anyone interested in a Car?

Dang! I was just out on Oahu (Waikiki beach) for my honeymoon. I could have popped over to take a look at it and written the whole trip off as a business expense.

Join the club. I had over 40K into my car, total. This includes cost of car, S/C, new motor, reinstall of S/C, Fix of S/C (a dozen times), removal of S/C, a $3000 hydrolic repair, and hundreds of mods... I cut my losses and moved on! Loved the car, but it was jinxed!~ Sorry to hear, bro.

Failure rates don't seem to be all that bad, they just get more attention because they are 3L swaps. The failure rate on the 2.5L bearings was pretty good there for a while too. Think of it this way, the failure rate on a properly built 3L is a hell of a lot lower than any nitrous, turbo, or supercharged car on this forum. You also have people with 30K+ miles on their 3L engines. I had a trouble free 3L for two years until I turbo'd it without an intercooler and cracked two pistons.

My stock 2.5 blew at 42K miles... With 64K on the Remanufactured engine, I have no problem swaping in a 3.0 that I put together myself. Will probably last longer by using updated and better parts. Going to be picking up an '01 Escape engine this week... can't wait, have a lot of prep work to do this Winter
