Just as a point of reference: My old 96 SE MTX, which my father now drives, has around 135K miles on it, and drives very well. It only had the general maint. and a new waterpump. I miss that car...

I've got almost 162,000 miles on my engine, and it runs like new. But I've had it maintained religiously and driven it conservatively, and that makes all the difference in the world.

just shy of 150k on duratec, replaced altenator and waterpump....thats it....but shes real tired  ....about time for the "upgrade"

Like others have said, maintence is the key. My `96 has 137K and its trans just bit the dust. The parts car `97 has 73K and the engine was dead. My truck's drivetrain has over 200K on the clock, but the donor was pristine, even for a `93. Something had been done to it (engine/trans, not sure), but it lot drove nicely, and the compression was good so I didnt care about mileage.
