Hey guys i got an offer for my car but it seems really suspicious i was wonder if anyone could take a look at it and let me know if it seems like one of those check scams:
HELLO,ALEX Thanks for the mail in your previous mail i am satisfy with thIs description u sent to me and the price also and my cilent has finally accepted your price,he hopes the engine is serviced and oil changed too .He cant wait to see the car parked in his garage. However,My client made out a certified cashiers check of(9,500) before he travelled to japan on a business trip, for a previous car and its shipment charges etc,but it was unfortunately sold. The amount on the check he deposited for the car is bigger than what should be paid to you now, so the check is now meant for the total expenses which includes the purchase of your car, the pick up of the car from its present location and the shipping charges/other necessary shipping arrangements. However he has instructed us to carry on with this transaction. So you're required to deduct the cost of your car (5,000) and send the balance of( 4,500) to the! shipper via western union money transfer to enable him offsett shipping charges/arrangements,and taxes. once the transaction is concluded, the shipper will be coming for the pick up of the car from its present location, on an open vehicle and then drive to a pre paid shipper for shipment, and also conclude other necessary shipping arrangements.so you dont have to bother yourself about the pick up and shipping arrangements, while title papers and other necessary documets will be sent by you via fedex courier to my customer. Please Confirm this and provide me your name, address and phone number for check payment to be delivered to you via fedex courier . N.B. Note that fedex does not deliver to P.O BOX Thanks and God bles Cheers
Thanks guys

If you want to call their bluff, suggest using a lawyer as a 3rd party to hold the money ... like in a house purchase.
Of course I am sure it's a scam, especially if you have no telephone number to call them on.

Not trying to be an ass, but isn't there a warning in the classifieds about this? These posts keep popping up. Can there be a sticky made so we don't have to go over this again and again?

How would some third party send you a check previously made out to someone else? HaHaHa!

For every single ad I post whether it is for a car or for parts I get flooded with these scam emails. They don't even know what they are "buying". I once put my x-wife for sale on an auto classified listing just to mess with them and sure enough, they had a "client" that was very interested. If I thought it was real I would've been happy to sell to the crazy b.... off! Of course they are all from England. I've found the best defense is to right away report them as spam. At least with Yahoo their email will be blocked and if it is a Yahoo account, they will suspend it. What you'll notice is that they all come from free email accounts. Since I've been doing that it seems I've been getting far fewer scam emails. It is annoying though because it makes putting something on the classified listings almost useless.

I'd love to mail myself in a box to these guys; to the address they ask you to send the check for the difference to. Then when they would pick me up in my crate and take me back home, I would pop out and smash there nuts to a pulp with a tire iron!
