IT is in the door. mounted on the inside of the door. Just throw it in there and secure it somewhere so it doesnt rattle all over the place.

It's not imperative, but I'd highly recommend an outboard crossover. Installation is not a problem, you've just got 2 pairs of wires to hook to the speakers instead of one. If you can read, you can install some drop-ins with an external crossover.

There's no setup or fine tuning. It's just a little plastic box that'll mount to your door near the speaker. Mine are mounted up and to the left of the factory speaker location.

Taking a look at the CC/BB websites, I don't believe anything they offer can compete with the Crystals, especially with that Panasonic HU powering them. The Crystals are really component speakers configured for easy drop-in installation.

Anything beyond a 2-way coaxial is a waste. A tweeter and woofer can easily cover the entire frequency range.

I have to agree on the Crystal sets as well, forgot completely about them, great for the money. As for the Polk's, I have never been impressed by Polk's stuff, not my cup of tea. Anyways, good luck finding something, I'll be around if you need anything else...

Morgan

If these crystals are as good as everybody says they are, than you are much better off with those. $80 a pair is really cheap. A lot of people here seem to know some good speakers and subs that are cheap...i've never heard of these brands though. I don't know much about car audio, so I just went with the brands I have seen in top of the line installs. My polk/momo speakers retail for $199 a pair, but I got them for $150 a pair. I love my speakers, and don't really care if I could have gotten some lesser known good brand for less. I probably could have gotten jsut as good a sub for under $300, but I like opening my trunk and seeing a pretty aluminum eclipse sub. You hardcore audio guys will probably think I'm crazy.

Titanium tweets, tho. I've yet to hear a metal tweeter than I didn't find harsh/tinny. I prefer silk/fabric tweets as they're a lot less fatiguing on my ears. Everyone has different tastes tho.

I used to say the same thing (in fact, I have Vifa silk tweets in my own car), but lately I've been hearing some very nice sounding metal ones.

I heard the lower model Cadence components in a buddy's car and they were great, not as warm as my Vifa PL/Vifa tweets, but sharper and not fatiguing at all. I could only assume that the higher models are even nicer. The ones listed in that ebay ad retail for around $350, so its a good price if nothing else

well all the good word the Crystals are getting I might go w/ them ...$80 is pretty damn cheep too. Only thing that is worrying me is that the Crystals are rated at 100 Peak. Thats not very high, I wonder what the RMS is. If I buy the Panasonic MXE CQ-C9800U will it blow or distort the crystals????

The question is whether you've had to live with them. I've used some titanium tweets that initially sounded very crisp. After an hour commuting, I had horrible listener fatigue from them. I installed some Blau components that had metal tweets that I was actually quite pleased with. But, I didn't listen to them for a long time span to really test the listener fatigue I get with brighter tweets.

It's no be-all, end-all but I usually prefer the soft dome tweets (silk, fabric, or other synthetic materials). I'm not saying that metal can't sound good either.

I've got the Vifa Neo's/PL's too.
