Just thought I would throw some ideas out and get flamed (haven't posted for a while). Has anyone ran slicks on a contour? Would it actually help much? Does anyone build up the bottom end on duratechs? That would give the ability to run a bigger shot of nitrous oxide, which looks to be the best bet with the silence of the turbo...

Uh I need a car?

I've heard of a few folks running slicks.

PhatSVT (S/C SVT) has slicks already and is getting a Terry Haines prepped MTX-75 (quaife, gears, clutch, etc)and he'll be running them next spring!!!
Do I hear a HELL YEAH!!! laugh

Haven't heard of anyone building up the bottom end. IIRC someone was trying the SHO bearings (from SHO V8) & a few people have sources for Forged & even titanium parts (rods, crank, pistons)

2000 SVT #674 - Check it out!

Hey that's a good Staind song....

Oh....is it really worth it to run slicks? Surface area has nothing to do with your grip on the road, so a big fat, wide slick doesn't help you there.

Dew Whah? Even the Pontiac guys know this one. "Wider is better"

Think of friction. If you have a larger contact area, you have more friction. Higher friction means more sticking. How can this have "nothing to do with your grip on the road?"

Why don't they just get rid of those huge tires on IRL and NHRA cars and use bicycle tires? They have less rolling friction. Wide tires just look cooler, right?  :p :p
