Because of three things- different case (metal if I'm not mistaken), an additional DVD with assorted media (including behind the scenes stuff), and somewhat of an exclusive feeling.

It's only $10 more, and that's the version I'm buying when I head on out to buy it.

Besides, who knows what other "bonuses" the Special Edition has that will be revealed later by Bungie.
