justin, SHM is notorious for having high prices. in fact, when I joined CEG, they were $1100...that's why I went with a SHOShop ypipe...I didn't think any other set of headers would come out for the tours. I would like to see a before and after, too, but the SHMs are exactly selling like hotcakes. Long tube headers are known to produce more tq than shorty headers, at least from what I've read in 'stang magazines. fwiw

I have mods, and I probably couldn't get dyno'd the same day I get my headers on (it'd mean 120 + miles of driving), but would anyone be interested in seeing before and after? If so, I'll do it. If not, I'll just dyno after.

"long tube headers. for the love of god."

In general long tubes help but we have seen little evidence in the Tour. Only 3 SHM header equipped cars dynoed that I know of are you - 148 lb/ft, Matt G - 151.6, and Eric G 160 then custom burn chipped to 170.
Maybe with better A/F tuning or a different design long tube results would be better but I would want to see some data before giving such a strong recommendation. Ive seen Y-pipes add 10, which I think is as good or better than headers at a fraction of the cost.

I thought we had dyno plots of a tour with the Apexi AFC that showed 20 lbs tq and something like 8 or 9 hp increase? i think 20 lbs of tq is more then enough to be noticeable... It seems like a good 300$ to spend... correct me if I am wrong tho.

Does anyone know what the diameter of the primary tubes are on the SH headers? How about the lenght of them? How about the diameter and the lenght of the collectors? These are VERY important to the proper design of the headers, If the design is not correct you will hear statements like[I dont think they made that much difference]or[The shorty headers work just as well] Another problem with most headers is that the primary tubes are not all the same lenght![BIG MISTAKE] There is no way a set of gutted manifolds or a set of shorty headers can even begin to compete with the power output of properly designed long tube equel lenght headers! Period. smile

considering the time between the "baseline" and the header dyno run i had the following problems occur, and did not fix at the time of the run

1) bad plugs/wires
2) exhaust leak
3) CEL (bad O2 sensor)
4) the rear ex manifold (header) was not properly sealed against the gasket/head.

i would say any one of those could have had major effects on the performance of the car at the time of the second run. not to mention what a properly tuned chip could have done. my tuner told me he could have EASILY gotten 190-200fwhp and 170-180lb/ft of fwtq with a custom tune. i would say 20-25 fwhp and 20-30lb/ft of tq is MORE then substantial for 2 mods, that is some serious gains.

i am offically a troll... so take my information and advice with a grain of salt.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda..we will never know. But, the custom tune at the Superchips Florida facility (by the experts) only got Eric to 176/170. I want some PROOF for 1200 (plus installation, chip, custom tune) clams.

no one said you had to buy them. and the tuner i am refering to knows his ****, i would lay money on it that he could get those numbers. infact i will... whoever buys the headers from me should do a before/after dyno at my tuners place, and then let him burn a custom chip... then we will see laugh

How much are you looking to get for the headers? And whats the deal with them...does it include/replace the existing ypipe & cat? Will I have a CEL without a custom burned chip?

Thanks

Bret, rather than go to all the trouble to get reburns on you chip. Why not just get an Apexi AFC and get instant on the spot tuneability? and be done with it.
