I bought a uniden for about $70 4 years ago. It has saved my a$$ many times although I would say it is far from perfect. My family has always been stingy (more or less) on radar detectors and have never stepepd up to a v-1 or passport model. We have had pretty much everything else: whistler, uniden, cobra, and bel. I definetely think for the lower end wal-mart type units uniden is the best. If you are going to drop some serious cash I would definetely get the v-1, I will eventually :rolleyes: My friend has the top-of-the-line BEL and I hate the thing. It falses all the time, everywhere even set in city x mode. It falses and different bands too, I wouldn't find it usefull whatsoever. Just my 2 cents
