I may out of line here, but it seems to me the day you see no protestors on the streets of America, is the day you want to be real concerned about the quality of freedom enjoyed in your country.
One of the themes I see repeated over and over again is how soldiers pay the price for freedom ... freedom doesn't come free; and I couldn't agree more.
Despite what some ill-informed posters to this forum think, Canada has a tremendous record of "paying the price for freedom" all around the world - including members of my own family.
And I only mention this to put my next thought into context - because when I see peaceful protestors who are presenting a viewpoint I don't agree with - I see it as confirmation of the importance and the value of the sacrifices made to keep our freedom. I don't get angry when my fellow citizens take full advantage of the freedoms that others fought to protect.
That's my take on it, anyway.

I think most people will agree with you that we have always fought to protect Michael Moore's freedom to do what he does. That's what's beautiful about it.
However, simply because his methods are protected and they are his right doesn't make them tactful, tasteful or any less dishonest or offensive. There are better (and obviously more effective) ways to protest.

Could he / should he be more tactful - to be sure; more tasteful - absolutely; less dishonest - I guess that may depend on which side of his fence you're on; less offensive - for sure ...
But could he be "better and more effective" - I don't think so. Moore has made millions being a protestor, gained worldwide notoriety or acclaim (again, depending ...) and then, aside from the candidates themselves, I can't think of too many people who were more visible during the campaign.
Think of him what you will, but Michael Moore has found the formula for effectivenessp; and I think the ultimate proof of that is the level of contempt Bush supporters have of him. I'll bet that's one way Moore knows if he's doing a "good job" or not.

Freedom = the right to protest = the right to tell the protesters to kiss your ass And Michael Moore can kiss my ass. He has become a caricature of himself. Whatever message he has will increasingly be lost because of this.

Yep, and I have the same right to drive by them and give them dirty looks if I want. We also seem to forget that soldiers, police, etc. are citizens too, and enjoy the same freedoms they help protect.

I'm sure he considered himself very effective when Bush was undisputedly reelected.

Word. That was my point. I think he's caused so many people to become disillusioned with his message that anything else preaches will be lost on a majority of his potential audience.

Absolutely - wasn't implying anything different - nor should it be different for police or soldiers.
BTW - November 11th is Remembrance Day in Canada and we honour our lost soldiers by wearing a poppy - a symbol we adopted from the poem "In Flanders Fields" written by a Canadian solider who died in Belgium during WW I.

Hey yeah, I heard about that last year. That's cool. We have a similar "Memorial Day" held at the end of May.
