Absolutely - wasn't implying anything different - nor should it be different for police or soldiers.
BTW - November 11th is Remembrance Day in Canada and we honour our lost soldiers by wearing a poppy - a symbol we adopted from the poem "In Flanders Fields" written by a Canadian solider who died in Belgium during WW I.
