I think Interior room, FWD or RWD, and MT vs. AT are things you need to sort out.

The 3-series has a small trunk and small back-seat while the G35 is much closer in size to a mid-size car.



Honestly, if you can live with the small interior of the 3-series I would go with that.

If not, the G35 is my pick.
