I say the BMW, but my current ride is a '99 328i so take it for what you will. With the BMW in particular, make sure that you buy exactly what you want, in particular the sport package is IMHO a must-have for the seats alone. I don't have it and regret it just about every day. As far as reliability, mine has 108k miles and is strong and solid, but you will have to replace suspension bushings and control arms on any current BMW every 50k miles or less. Something to consider.
