The deal was they have it exclusive for the first year. As it is though, none of our other aftermarket distributors touch FWD stuff, so I doubt any others would pick it up... Jackson racing expressed an interest once upon a time, but because of the Ford deal, that went away...

Haines Motor Sports Inc only does 'FWD' stuff!.Pity,as we have transmissions in every week for Quaife & upgrades....I think Torsen may want to rethink its applications re the FWD sport/compact market. Thanks TH

It just means that Torsen will have to sign up a few more distributors is all, if all that they're involved with is rear drive companies. A start with HMS would be perfect!!! With a price of $675 through Ford means a much lower price could be had on the "open" market, such as the Quaife distribution.

Our business is 99% OEM sales, with little aftermarket. As such, we only go after aftermarket applications that have big potential - which are RWD axles, for Mustangs, Camaros, etc. FWD LSD customers are still small peanuts compared to that. The sport compact market in general may be the fastest growing segment of the aftermarket, but from this end of it, the customers in that segment that want a LSD are relatively few. Think of the % of RWD aftermarket customer that want a LSD - it'd be a very large chunk. But its not the case in this segment. I think if you could get 10% (even just 5%) of enthusiast owners of Contours, Cougars and Foci, to want one then it'd be huge, volume-wise. Enough market for all the companies involved, and then some. But as I said, it's not the case, even for Hondas...

Pity, when rallying is catching on in USA etc etc....seems Torsen ,as an OEM, think little unless it relates to volume sales.I think companys such as Quaife etc who have more of a base in racing put the aftermarket first as they are not OEM's.I still think your marketing need to re think,an example is American Axle,a big outfit you agree, they are the ones making the Aussie Bar for the Contour/Cougar and use the prototype area as an aftermarket mfg group....may want to 'get on the bus' Torsen.regards Terry Haines

Well, I'll keep doing what I can, whatever that may be. The fact that we got the MTX75 diff into production, with its smaller volume, is a step in right direction...

Hey Rick, you wouldn't happen to know when the 8.8" T2R is gonna be sold through companies OTHER than Global West, would you? They seem to have a nasty habit of jacking prices on the R model....

Frankly, no one else has stepped up to the plate to carry those models. FRPP knows about it, Reider Racing knows, but they haven't asked for any... If they did, we'd have no heartburn selling them elsewhere...

Up here in the Great White North, the difference in pricing between the Torsen and Quaife is approx. $500 CDN! Obviously, this is due to an extra "middleman" and his cut. Makes my decision easy though.

Speaking of "White" I'd love to have a Torsen just to have to winter traction. I also understanding the torque biasing has to be much less on FWD to lessen the effects of torque-steer???? I'd much rather have a car w/RWD or FWD with a Torsen than a SUV/4WD. Be nice if Ford would offer the Torsen as an option on All their models for us snow country folk. Friend of mine put one in his 2-wd F-150, it was amazing. T-1 type of Diff, I understand was first used on the flight lines tugs to keep from jerking out the nose gears regardless the weather dry, wet or ice? 3 diff's like the Hummer. 707 prototypes?? Rumors Paul By the way, what is the main difference that's keeping the ATX's not being able to use a Quaife or Torsen?? Thanks!
