What do you think Bush could have done to 'lessen its impact'?

But it doesn't do the world much good to make policy you can't / won't enforce either. Originally posted by bnoon: The UN was created to avoid these type of conflicts. Worthless or not, it doesn't do foriegn policies much good to go against the UN.

yes I understand there is an economic cycle, doesn't mean steps can't be taken to lessen its impact, again nothing was done
1. The Fed cuts rates to all-time lows 2. Tax cuts to jump start economy
They both worked.

The problem with America is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment
for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety
labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

tax incentives to prevent jobs from going overseas
not increase taxes on the middle/lower class not cut taxes to the rich
not closing social welfar programs, could have increased them and increase job training
not cut goverment funding to jobs including police and fire

and the fact Bush did nothing to stop it....
Really? So Bush did nothing to recover from one of the shortest recessions on record historically? Despite the first major attack on the homeland? Didn't pass new tax legislation? Didn't pass new legislation to discourage corporate fraud?
And now we're talking about overhauling the IRS, more or less eliminating it using the KISS principle (flat tax system), creating individual/personal wealth in a new retirement structure that avoids the corruption common to gov't programs, continuing to modernize our volunteer military.
What exactly would you have suggested?

How would ANY of those stop a recession?
Please, PLEASE, I'm begging you, stop.

Isolation worked in the 20-late 30s... Here's an idea for education, pay attention and study in class, and then get off your ass and work to educate yourself!! If our education is so terrible, why are other countries coming here to get their people educated?
