If your going to have Terry doing your tranny work, I would suggest getting a quaife which will cost you under $500 through him if he does the work.

He's a Torsen dealer too, but it won't be as cheap. He was fairly busy last I heard, he's 2/3 done with my trans

terry haines is a no for me. I guess I will grind my 3rd gear then not have one... local shops can handle a torsen and a new clutch... would a shop own me with a terrible price if they are doing a swap anyways? ehh.. I gotta call around...

Labor cost wise. Probably not "comparatively" Labor is 60-80 per hour anywhere.

Quality of work wise. Maybe.
I trust NO ONE to touch my car though and most shops that give you a low quote either have NEVER down the job or will likely half ass it.

I stopped working on other people's cars a while ago myself. I just do some local stuff now.

This is also why when people find a good mechanic they stay with them for years or for life. Finding a quality and honest mechanic is not impossible as there are a lot of there. However there are many more that are the opposite: crappy and cheap, over priced and crappy, just over priced, all of the above, et cetera...

That's why I would also recommend Brad or Rick to do it if that's at all feasible. Experienced, honest, and do quality work.

Hey guys, as a positive for Terry since there have been a few negatives posted here; timeline on an extensive project such as E1 has going on is mandated by how long the backlog is and how extensive the project and those in front of it are. There's only 24 hours in a day and a lot of life to attend to beyond just working on car or even one single project.

As far as rebuilding the trans itself goes, Flem you should send it to Terry. He's the best on the trans and it's not going to be the same timeline as what a custom project would be.

I wasn't complaining about Terry by any means, I want it done right so it went to him. His background as a Ford engineer is good and the fact he mainly works on MTX75's...... I don't think there is anyone who'd be better qualified to do the job.

Not to say no one else can do a good job, but he's who I wanted to do my trans work.

On top of all of that, I have Buckshot77 building my 3L shortblock for me. I'd deffinatly recommend Rick, he's been great to work with.

send it to terry, he'll have your trans back in 2-3 weeks tops. He had to wait for a part to be shipped from Europe for mine so it took 3 weeks, but for just a quaife install, it shouldnt take longer than 2 weeks.
