You just need a system, so that oil disposal is easy. You won't even mind an oil change in the winter, as long as it goes fast. The peace of mind is worth it.

My system: I have an oil drain pan that holds 12 quarts. It's really a container with a screw-on funnel. The top of the funnel is still only 4 or 5 inches high; I have no problem getting it under my Contour without raising the car.

For me, the real hassle is dealing with small amounts of oil. I don't want to go to the recycle area until I've done several changes. My old job had a lab that used various photochemicals that came in nice 5 gallon containers. They're really just heavy cardboard boxes with a plastic liner that has a screw-on lid. I have two of them, so I don't recycle oil until I've done 10 gallons worth of changes (with 3 busy vehicles, it's still occurs too frequently).
