You're right. Most of the utility trucks I see around here all have gas powered pole saws. But normally they don't use them unless its an emergency. Otherwise they leave that work to their contractor they use for that sort of stuff. The contractor that the power company hires to trim the trees away from the power lines has the hydraulic powered pole saws mounted to the cherry picker buckets. So they just hoist themselves up into the tree and saw away with another guy loading all the cut branches into a chipper.
