Thanks man! Actually I stopped by the house today, the yard looks ok, I live on a hill so mosty of the leaves blew down into the woods or into neighboring yards. I just got a (working) gas powered string trimmer for free from a coworker, another coworker is giving me a gas powered lawn mower although I think an new electric mower may stay with the house as part of the deal. We also bought a new electric leaf blower/vac today. I likely won't use the vac part since I use the blowers to dry my car.

I was amused by the wind yesterday - it blew all of the leaves in our front yard to be up against the house and nestled in the front bushes. This allows for much less raking footage

I'm not trying to toot my own horn here but I want to seriously suggest all the home owners, or those resposnible for fall clean-ups, call around to several local landcsapers (most of which offer free estimates) to have them stop by and give estimates for fall clean-up. You may be suprised how affordable some of their prices actually are.
To keep your cost down and still allow you to do some work yourself you could for instance just contract them to clean the lawn and leave the beds and landscaped areas alone, or vice versa. This time of year is the last chance for steady work for landscapers before the gamble of feast or famine once winter sets in with snow removal. So most of them will be willing to take on any work that comes along.
I feel sorry for the people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, thats the best they're going to feel all day - former President Lyndon B. Johnson

I think that'll be a good investment for next year, they only chrage like that $60 - 80 for mowing the lawn, it can't be that expensive ya know.

i wish i could find a landscraper around here to just come suck up the leaves. i like your $2/min thing jay. it would cost about $12 to suck up the 26 bags worth of leaves i had. gonna attack the front yard today. and then the back yard....again
