so to rephrase my question so that hopefully i get a useful answer (thanks to the couple of you who did actually answer the question) here goes. I owe 1900 on my car. I don't have a way to get that money and pay the car off right now. Borrowing it from someone isn't an option. I don't have a credit card with a high enough limit to cash advance and my credit sucks so I can't get a small personal loan to pay it off and get the title in my hands. The title sits with Ford Credit. Is it considered reasonable to ask someone for 50% upfront so that i can pay off the car and get the title? Some states give you 7 days to get the car registered and during that time you are legal if you attach plates from another registered vehicle and carry that vehicles registration with you. Would this clause allow someone to buy from me and legally drive the car until I get the title? I'm pretty sure it will. Lastly, if you were buying the vehicle, would you make full payment on the car and get it towed to your house and wait the week for the title to come from the person that you bought the car from or would you feel freaked out about doing that? On one hand, you have the car in your possession. On the other hand you need the title to be able to do anything with the car.
