The smoking may have taken a year or two off your life, but certainly better than if you had kept smoking.
Smoking pot doesn't kill you the way cigarettes do. Smoking pot (a joint or a bowl) is comparable to smoking about 5 cigarettes (as far as the amount of tar in your lungs). No additives, etc. It hasn't been shown to cause lung cancer, or any kind of cancer for that matter, just a case of bronchitis. Furthermore, studies show that the effects of long term pot use on the brain have minimal effects (if at all) compared to the brains of non-smokers.
I believe there was also a study done with cigarettes that showed if regular smokers quit before the age of 30, something like 98% of the effects from the cigarettes would be gone. I doubt you have caused any permanant damage, but then again, I don't know how long you've been smoking and the frequency at which you smoke...
Take this from a big p-smoker...if you need help quitting or just wanna talk about it, PM me. I've always made it a point to keep myself in shape by lifting, etc., but I'm considering cutting back for the sake of my lungs...
