"The old allegations have once again been recycled, this time one week before the election," Hall said. "The GAO said earlier this year that the contract was properly awarded because Halliburton was the only contractor that could do the work.
"We look forward to the end of the election, because no matter who is elected president, Halliburton is proud to serve the troops just as we have for the past 60 years for both Democrat and Republican administrations," she said.
While the Corps was authorized to spend up to $7 billion for the oil restoration work, the actual cost so far has been $2.5 billion. Halliburton is still working on the oil facilities, but it is now operating under a new, competitively awarded contract.
Case closed.
And really, come on people, lets not be gullible. Favors and corruption in government contracts are present in ANY government, in ALL levels, in ANY country. Democratic, Republican, makes no difference.

Yeah, that's exactly the problem. And that sure as hell doesn't make it right. I just find it...well...ironic...that it happened to go to a company that our vice president has investments in. Oh well, the truth will hopefully prevail.

Just run a search on LOGCAP. KBR won it back from DynCorp in '02. Well over half the logistics, services and training in Iraq have been awarded to this Halliburton subsidy LEGALLY, as the military quickly found out that doing the typical bid process took far too long to be effective during a crisis or time of need.
Again, just search on LOGCAP. I'll bet that this was a procurement agent that was particularly thick-headed and didn't know squat about pre-existing purchasing vehicles such as LOGCAP and called a firestorm down due to ignorance.

you know, a "conspiracy theorist" "friend" of mine kept trying to make me believe that Bush started the war in Iraq because he and/or cheney had investments in the company that would be rebuilding iraq; and for that reason only. Now, personally I think you'd have to be pretty screwed up to send people to die in a foreign country just to make yourself some money. MAybe i'm crazy, but I give Bush more credit than that. But still, the kid wouldn't quit - any opinion other than his was wrong. And that was the stupidest one i've heard in a long time. Needless to say I don't talk to the kid anymore. Just because I question Bush/Cheney's motives and don't think their the saints people claim they are, doesn't mean I buy into theory either. I just find it, how should I put this...rather convenient that they managed to profit from the war...

Care to back that up? Cheney is completely divested of all of his equity holdings, and lets be serious here... do you REALLY think he's going to go back into corporate America in 4 more years when his term as vice president is over and take advantage of these "favors"?? Get serious...

That woman is just a spy planted by the liberalist left agenda to further their plans to take over the world. c'mon, with a name like "Greenhouse" it's GOT to be true! VP Cheney isnt profiting off Haliburton's contract. That would be highly unethical and a conflict of interests. I don't think someone in a position as high as his would do something like. After all, his daughter is a lesbian.

Yes, just how a president would never have his thugs break into the DNC and plant bugs to collect info...I mean, he's the president...we can trust him, right? I'm not saying Cheney is guilty of anything - yet - I just think that this is something worth investigating. It shouldn't be brushed off because "we should be able to trust our vice president". And if Cheney was a democrat and this same situation occured, you all would be pointing your fingers at him.
