It's outrageous! How dare they award the contracts to a company that was most qualified to do the job. The nerve! And you know that if the tables were turned, and they awarded the contract to some other company in order to avoid any accusations of impropriety and that company royally fux0r3d the job that the left would be screaming about how GW was only concerned about his image and didn't award the contract to the most qualified company Haliburton because he was afraid it would look bad.

According to the AP article, this appears to be a newly added element to the current FBI investigation into Haliburton's fuel pricing; which suggests at least a substantial new "reason" to raise the allegations again.
On the other hand, the FBI also said that no one in the White House was included in this new phase of their investigation - so linking Cheney to it, would appear to be a recycling of the old allegation.
The fence remains upright and occupied.

If there is question about pricing & double billing, that will be Halliburton to answer for it, not the VP. This is the second of two old issues that the Dems are digging up close to election day... Muddy the waters if you have no clear convictions to stand on...
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

There is an undisputed link between Cheney and Haliburton that Cheney does not dispute(former CEO, former major shareholder, current friends and associates in power there) - a company that is benefiting greatly from a war effort in which Cheney is a key player. This provides the reason for alleging that Cheney had a role in this - one that at face value seems to be a logical question to ask.
However, there has yet to be any legal determination that there were any misdeeds on Haliburton's part, which would make any link to Cheney moot.
Should these allegations against Haliburton be proven true, that still does not prove any culpability on Cheney's part, although investigating that (assuming evidence) could possibly be a next step.
If your convictions allow you to essentially make a determination before all the evidence is heard, solely on the basis of your political beliefs, so be it; my position, is that we are far from anyplace close to a)proving Haliburton did anything wrong, and b) if they did, that Cheney had something to do with it.
That would appear to be consistent with the finest traditions of the American justice system; which apparently you believe to be full of "muddy water."

Have you forgotten the uproar from the Dems in 2001 when it was learned that Cheney unloaded his Halliburton stock just before it plummeted (along with about every other stock)??
The REAL irony here is how Cheney has been accused of "dumping" Halliburton for a profit one year then accused of using Halliburton to make a profit the next..
I sure hope ALOT of truths prevail...

Yeah, that's exactly the problem. And that sure as hell doesn't make it right. I just find it...well...ironic...that it happened to go to a company that our vice president has investments in. Oh well, the truth will hopefully prevail.
You do realize that people most likely to engage and get away with it are Senators and Reps. Why do you think John Kerry's voting record is not consistant except when raising middle class taxes.

I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment

labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
