hmmm...like the dj on this morning's radio said. "they still have to make it home without the plane crashing." now THATS a curse!
ps about football being america's new sport there was an article recently that ratings show that the X games has trumped traditional sports. The article said that baseball teams (little league type) across the nation are experiencing a serious decline in interest.
**no, the world of sports does not revolve around Boston and NY, it revolves around the Lakers! {now putting on flame suit}

im not
does that mean i have to root for the Cards now
I"m just arguing it being the biggest night in sports. The 1980 US Hockey team was much bigger.
-Andy
READ THE ORIGINAL POST HE SAID IT WAS THE BIGGEST SINCE 86. THIS IS BIGGER THAN THE MIRACLE ON ICE SIMPLY BECAUSE THERE ARE MORE BASEBALL FANS IN BOSTON THAN THERE ARE HOCKEY FANS IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY!!!
Hello, brain,yea,this is common sense. Can I come in? You see Miracle on Ice was about more than Hockey. It was about galvanizing a nation during a period of extreme competition with the Eastern Block, specifically the Soviet Union. The implications of that victory were far more reaching and diverse than the Sox win.
BTW, I'm a Sox fan. I visit Beantown every summer and most of my relatives still live in Malden, Beverly or Nahant.

Exactly! I watched the Man U/Arsenal game instead of the World Series. Now THAT is entertainment.

Not even close to the biggest night in sports. The Red Sox won and the overhyped "curse" is over, but this team was considered by most to be the favorite in the world series. The win in the series against the Yankees was a bigger story than the world series victory. This isn't even in the same league as the miracle on ice. And in the last few decades in baseball, it pales in comparison to a few events. Hank Aaron's 715, for instance. Hell, I think McGwire's 62nd was a bigger national story. Not one time did a show I watch get interupted for a Barry Gibb at bat.
