I drove a 96 MTX SE, and was happy with the upgrade when I bought my SVT. However, I actually liked the shift feel in my SE better. Not that I dislike my SVT's shifting, but the rod shifter felt like a much shorter throw, and more precise as well. If you love your SE, get the SVT as a tribute to it and enjoy the upgraded performance. Really can't say enough about the older SE's though. They were truly a great effort by Ford. It's not often you can say that. I gave mine to my dad so that I can still drive it once in a while.
