The Ford Fusion, due as a 2006 model, is the closest the US is going to get to another contour or a mondeo.
Fwiw, the Fusion is going to be great "spiritual successor" to the Contour, and will be a part of a broad family of vehicle design, so hopefully, there will be a large pool of OEM parts to pull from for the gearheads to "upgrade" with.
