If you use a good quality thermal epoxy you won't need the zip ties at all.

As for concrete evidence...I suppose I could maybe buy a thermometer and compare temperatures, any other suggestions would be helpful. I also have never had any problems with my box after 85k so maybe this will prevent failure, perhaps not. I like the cover, so mabye I will cut a hole in it and put it back on?
