I have the keyless entry fob (with 4 buttons) on my '95 Ford Contour LX (which seems to have almost every option), and don't have the double unlock.
Seems weird that some '97s and '98s have 'em, and mostly SEs and SVTs.
Does anyone know how the door locks work? I wonder if its a simple part to replace.
Also, for those of you that have it, does the double-unlock thing only work from the driver's door, or does it work from the passeneger's as well?

My brother's 98 Carolla LE has that feature, turn the key to the left it opens up just that door, to the right it opens all doors. and to lock you just do the same thing. Kind of a neat set up. I wouldnt mind having it.

I installed my own keyless entry for my power locks. I got the unit from Ford & it is very basic. I press the unlock button on the fob and all doors unlock.
There is actually a selection of systems from Ford that will work with the PATS system. Each adds additional features and are only slightly more complicated to install. Check out the various systems at Ford, I'm sure you can get one that has the double key system, and truck release, and double click for all doors to unlock, and whatever.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

My 98 Mystique LS does Not unlock all doors from the door key, and it has factory keyless.
To find out if you have keyless, check the rear of the dash by the kick panel, you may see a white 2 pin plug with a brown and a white wire. It may be taped with paper black tape. If you have that, you are in luck, go on e-bay and find some remotes like this

I'm just gonna stick to just using the duct tape latch I made on my car...works best when I park in the sun and the tape gets all gooey.
USMC training begins on the 25th of Jan wish me luck.

This would be easy to wire up to unlock all doors with a single turn the double turn is a little trickier.
TO find if you have keyless from the factory look under the dash on the passenger side toward the kick pannel and fire wall. you will see a rectangular box with an antenna input and wiring going to a couple of relays behind it. If you don't have it you will see a big open space. BTW if you have the premium sound system it will be located directly behind the factory amp.

Both my 97 SE and 98 SVT have factory keyless entry...
