I was going to the Lions football game, when one the way some kid pulls out, obviously without looking. I swerved HARD, but to no avail. Passenger Fender, Door- toast Rear door-maybe fixable Scrapes on both bumpers
Get this, the best part being he 16 but has NO, yes NO drivers licence at all, and was on his way to pick up some stuff for his friends. And after I'm hit, I only assume he'll stop.....NOPE, go booting down the street and I'm on him like white on rice, and MAKE REAL SURE he's not getting away. He was probably afraid of the consequences -$600 for leaving the scene -$150 for no DL -His parents' insurance (which were to be re-insured in 5 days) is now, not cheap. They had to take him downtown I think because of the no DL. I took pictures, got one stranger witness and the 3 guys in my car as witnesses, wrote Everything I think I needed down.
Here's where I need your help -I've never ever been in an accident involving 2 people, let alone me. What are some things I need to know so I don't get the runaround -Like my wheels for example. 2 are now "damaged". If they replace them, can I keep the old ones? -The driver's side has recent paint but My hood, roof and trunk are untouched but have bad bad factory paint, should I get those repainted? I had a 16V fender badge that is now MIA from the accident, how on earth can I get those again? A Mondeo?

talk to your insurance and take your car to the best paint shop in Canada! of course, i have no idea how your system works though. here in carinsuranceland we can take our cars to ANY body shop we want to, so long as the estimate isnt too ridiculous. for example: if you own your car, not still paying for it, they will cut the check out to for the cost of the estimate. my mom's mercedes was backed into by a school district truck. the insurance company asked her to get two estimates. her mechanic recommended a shop that offered to do it for $1200. i told her to have it fixed there BUUUUUUT i sent her to two local Mercedes dealerships to get estimates. $6500 check came in the mail about two weeks later! wahoo! i love so cal. the only thing better than that is having custom paint. they cant really argu over the cost to repair it. i had a beer truck back into my custom painted accord. 3 stage pearl paint job. i got an estimate for $1700 and the shop did for a couple of hundred. maybe you can find a paint shop that will estimate really high and then throw in other work to hook you up. i have a guy out here that does this for me, but its kinda a long drive for you.

Your insurance company should take care of everything, One thing to do is not to take it to there place to get your car fixed, Go to a place you know and have them do the work. Try to get 2-3 estimits from places. But again dont take it to there shop take it somewere you want.

No they will not replace the 17s, Unless you told your insurance company about it and they have it on record. Heres advice to everyone. If you have Aftermarket rims or hood or kit on your car tell your insurance company. So when something like this happens they wil cover it.

No they will only cover what happend in the accident.

i think it depends on what insurance company you have. the more premium (expensive/best) companies usually cover everything, no questions asked.
my friend had a neighbor's cat piss on his chrome rim which cause some kind of permanent staining. they replaced it and he had zero deductible. ive heard of other aftermarket stuff being replaced no problem. Allstate and Farmer's (or State Farm?) are usually very good about this.
oh yeah, duh, i just remembered someone else hit you!
dude, if your rims were gold plated they would have to replace them. and YES, you will be able to keep your old ones. they dont care about stuff life that. they pay out millions of dollars in claims a year. if their insured hit your car, they have to replace WHATEVER he f*cked up. they'll just be happy you're not claiming a sore neck and back.
*of course, this could all be different in Canada. for all i know they could require YOU to pay him.

Well in a 100% their fault accident, I don't pay deductible OR lose discount. Phew! I wasn't sure if I was to take it to a few shops, thanks Kevin. As for painting, I meant, should I get it painted sorta "while I'm there", I know they won't paint untouched things. I'll try and negotiate a higher resale value in case it is close to being a write off. Thankfully, we still can get zetec contours around here for 6-8000 loonies . I'm not hurting physically so far, only mentally
Now if we only had those CF fenders availble now hehe. I'll get pics up today.

I was quoted after my hit and run accident, by the officer that I talked to and the body shop, that even though I needed work done near the damage, I could still get him for it, since in order to fix the damage the guy caused, they would have to fix the damage that was already there. I could either have the whole bill or just the cost of his damage sent to him. Finally almost 10 months later, I finally saw money out of the guy. Good luck man. I hope they let him sit in their jail over night haha!

Np and if i were you i would have them touch stuff up, There already mixing the paint so i would, You will have to pay the labor and what not but in the long run its better off.

Honestly they wont write it off and i dont think they will give ya a higher resale, You get what KBB says and that blow. Btw i know you should your not hurting or anything but go to the doctor and get yourself check out. You never know what happend. He will have to pay for it as well.

Should I wash the car before the adjuster sees it? This way he can acurately see and photograph the damage...

Damn man, that sucks bad.
Did you keep a camera around to record the incident ?
You got his name, address, license plate is the most important right ? Call ICBC now and file a claim. that kid is gonna be in huge [censored] if he didn't have a license and he nailed you.
When I got rear ended, the [censored] who did it tried to write it off and deny it, he changed his tune when I started taking pictures with the disposable camera I keep in my glove box all the time.
Good luck.
