could be. my buddy went to a custom stereo shop and had a full system installed in his truck. the SAME night it was all stolen. all the screws keeping the amps in and everything else were all removed, right in front of his house. he paid with a cc and they covered it, luckily.
the only stereo i have ever had stolen (knocking on wood table right now) was when i smashed the front end of my car in. My sweet 98 accord. i rear-ended someone and smashed the front end. the hood was buckled up. i was actually able to drive it home. i was tired and depressed so i parked it and just armed the alarm. the ONE time i forgot to take my face plate off and BAM. the thieves reached under my buckled hood, disconnected my bad ass battery and helped themselves to my Pioneer Premier head unit, 12 disc changer in glovebox, and about 60 of my favorite cds! thank God i kept the trunk handle locked (cool feature) so you had to open it with the key. the back seat was also locked in place (thank God again). so they had no idea that I had 3 Fosgate amps and 2 JL 12w6's in the trunk! my car insurance doesnt cover jack sh*t! no car insurance company i have ever had, all good ones, would. i guess too much fraud invovled. although I do know other people who have been covered. If your insurance company will cover it, do you have receipts? if not, maybe someone in here can get you some back-dated receipts to help you recover your loss. good luck.
