Chevron and Havoline (Texaco) are very nearly the same product and both use Chevron's "iso syn" base stock.
Mobil Drive Clean also uses base stock that is nearly synthetic. The latest GF4 formulation actually uses a slightly better base stock than Chevron (group III from Mobil vs Group II+ for the others). Mobil also supplies GM Goodwrench oil as well as Chrysler Mopar oil, which are probably also very nearly the same oil.
Conoco, Phillips, Union 76, Kendall, and Motorcraft are also very nearly the same oil. They also use Chevron's "iso syn" base stock. Motorcraft actually labels theirs as "synthetic blend".
I don't know much about Valvoline.
Of the ones you listed, I would choose Havoline (Texaco), but there isn't that much difference between any of the ones I listed to make it a hard fast choice.
Can you document this information?

Why no Royal Purple fans out there...this oil seems to be better on the overall performance of the car over Mobil 1. Royal is more expensive tho.

Although I stick by regular Valvoline 5W-30 and 3,000 mile changes in my 98 Mystique I recently found that our local Sam's Club has the Mobil 1 5W-30 six packs for about $6 less than AutoZone - around $1/qt less. I use it in my wife's GT Cruiser so I'll probably be buying it from Sam's from now on.

I have used Mobil 1 for years in all of my modified vehicals....on the ones i have had the chance to tear down, i saw almost no wear on the motor...bearings, pistonwalls, cranks, rods, cams....And the inside was clean (oil changes ever 3 months or 4000 miles).
The reason i stick with it is becasue the proof above is good enough for me. Im not saying Royal Purple is not good...all im saying is that im sticking with what has worked for me...And thats way im suggesting people to using it...Mobil 1 has personaly, made me a believer in there product.

I have a lowly LE. I use Walmart synthetic blend and change every 3K. Thought a Semi-Synthetic for the price of standard oil was a plus and didn't have to wait for Valvoline (former oil of choice) to go on sale. However, since reading BIG-JIMS post I need to rethink this!?

And until just the last year, Mobil 1 was only a synthetic blend. The problem with a synthetic blend is the difficulty in controlling the base stock and producing a reliable oil that has consistent performance.. But hey, that was better than some others I can think of..

I guess you need to define your terms. From what I understand Mobil 1 has always been a full synthetic. Originally it was full group IV PAO and later became a blend of group IV and group V which it still is today.
If you use Castrol's definition of synthetic, the newest Mobil conventional oil would qualify, both use full group III base stocks.
