Windshield has never been replaced (as of 3/18/01 when my parents originally bought the car for my use) ... the leaking became apparent during rainstorms shortly after having had new tires put on and a brake job / cylinder replacement at Sears a month ago. (I don't see how the two matters could possibly correlate unless he punched a hole in my floor near the tire well, haha. )

Next free warm day I have during daylight hours, my dad and I will check with the hose. I rarely get home before 11PM, so timing is mostly my fault

I know this probably isn't your problem, but last time I had water on the floorboards (Passenger) it was because of a leaking heater core. I would also check the cowl and make sure water isn't coming into the car from there. I replaced the cabin air filter on my mom's Taurus once, and I had to make sure the cowl was placed on correctly or else water would leak right into the car.

If you lift the hood, there is a seal on the front edge of the firewall and a plastic grill, you could also remove that grill and look down into the air intake box for any places some caulking could be cracked in the corners. When you do the water test...remove the plastic pillar cover that goes down the side of your windshield to your dash. When they leak, they run down the pillar behind that plastic cover and down behind the dash.

You are right on the money.

My dad and I put the car in the garage today and took off the plastic cover (right between the wipers and hood). It was indeed that air filter; right where it connects to the inside of the car there was a ton of dirt (now mud) gathered over the years, practically pulling it off from the wall. Taking that off showed the gasket cracked at the corners just as you suggest. I'll have pictures later. Now to get a new filter (was that thing dirty!) and new caulking or gasket material for that corner. We cleaned it out and put it back together, perhaps the removal of all that dirt will yield a bit less water coming in.
