Curse, Purse..... AL & NL teams have 2 totally different styles of play.. This won't be a pitcher's duo like most people think. There will be a lot of run scoring in this matchup..

I like St. Louis in 6!!

what are you talking about? I dont know anyone that thinks it will be a pitching duel??? these are the 2 top run scoring teams from their respective leagues. The question is, who can mash out more?

Both teams also feasted on pitching-poor teams. Teams don't get to this stage with a mediocre staff. These upcoming games won't be like that old Philly vs. Cubs game at Wrigley scoring most of 40 runs in one game. The games at Fenway will be fun with St. Louis getting to play w/ a DH (LaRussa did a terrific job of manufacturing runs in the AL with the White Sox in '83) and what does Ortiz do during games at Busch? Mostly just sit and wait for the lit-up eagle to fly when the game's over?

I think this series is tough to call.

yankees pitching is better than the cards and I wouldn't exactly call the ALCS a pitchers duel

Tony La Russa has a fantastic record. The A's were my team way back when! oooohhhhh...what memories...what a team!

Red Sox in 5

They are riding the momentum of a huge comeback, and are just scratching the surface.

Wakefield is pitching on like 5 days rest, Schilling will be well rested, and Pedro will have 4 days rest by then. Johnny D is out of his slump and there is no stopping destiny.

I fly out Sunday morning for Game 2....GO SOX!!!!

I agree that this series is tough to call but don't forget that Ortiz can play first base. Millar can also spell Nixon in right field particularly against lefty pitching. Although the sox are riding a high right now, they may also be a bit fatigued. In baseball though having 2 full days off then playing a night game should physically have everyone ready to go again. Sox need a contingency plan if schilling can't get it done. Lowe has stepped up nicely, unfortunately Arroyo has been very average

isnt the curse regarding winning the world series? not merely getting there? they went to the world series not tooo long ago and lost.
i really hope that this stupid curse thing wont be in the back of their heads during the game cuz that could seriously cause someone to slip up. i wonder if the players actually take it seriously as some of the fans do?

the curse thing was debated on a morning news show here thurs or friday morning...whether it included the w.s or just boston getting by the yankees...far as i understand it, it includes the world series too...

it went something like....boston won 5 of the first 16 w.s...winning the last one in 1918 and trading away babe the next season...and they haven't won the series since

meanwhile, as a dodger fan i sorta want the cards to win...somehow i feel better knowing my teams lost to the eventual champs in whatever sport

but what the hell...i wanted boston to whoop the yankees, and now i figure i'll ride the bandwagon the rest of the way

besides, if they win they can all finally GO TO A FREAKIN SUPERCUTS
