I think they are advertising based on the dyno run from that cougar. They showed a 25hp increase on the cougar over stock. The dumba*ses compared a chipped cougar with the headers to a stock one, so you can't tell how much came from the headers, and how much came from the chip. By the way Icey Mike, I see your signature. All I can say is SEMPER FI!! I at least understand what it means to be a Marine. warmonger Former 2531 battery operated grunt.

My personal opinion here; MSDS Headers, I waited a Very long time, once installed, the wait was worth it, I may go dyno this week, but I am not real sure about that. The key phrase here is Just Do It

I agree, even tho the numbers weren't what I expected, I'm still pleased with the overall performance. I like the way the revs build up quicker and the improved mpg was a welcome surprise!

What about combining the MSDS headers with the SHO Shop "Y" pipe? I have the SHO Shop Y pipe now, just got the Vortec MSDS headers....the Y pipe on the headers looks awfully restrictive, just like stock!!! Would this be a good combo or would we loose power on this setup as well?
Thanx

mikey - there was a guy who dyno'd w/ the MSDS headers and the SHOShop pipe, then with the MSDS pipe and the MSDS pipe had a few hp on the SHO pipe. Theory is that the bend in there is for extra hp...the stock pipe is just ugly on the inside.

With a good flowing y-pipe, even with the bend, HP is gained. Here is that Y-pipe comparison installed on MSDS headers.

Sorry guys! When I said I wanted to sell the Y pipe , it was kinda "tongue in cheek"! Not really sure if I'm going to get rid of it..want to go racing, depending on what type of car, class, and what my wife let's me do,I will make the decision as to whether I use it or not.
By the way, for those of you that asked, it's the y-pipe w/cat (aluminized steel). Again sorry for the false advertising!
