Cops have better things to do than show up for a non-injury acccident.

They need to eat donuts and right frivolous tickets

I didn't realize the NY State Police set up a frandchise in CA.

sh*t, NY cops? i thought they were busy shooting unarmed black people and taking mafia payoffs.

for those who have seen "Training Day" there is a week long story this week in the LA Times about wild/bad cops in the LAPD. there was a bust of a ring of about 20 cops, only 2 went down, who did home invasion robberies of drug dealers and other bad boys, just like in the friggin movie. they wore their uniforms and showed up in regular squad cars to make it look legit! took hundres of thousands of dollars.
not that i care about drug dealers or other bad people but talk about life imitating art!

and Im NOT anti-cop, fyi my own wife is trying very hard to get into one of the many depts out here. she wants to arrest 'em and i want to put 'em away. I just carefully scrutinize people who have the power to abuse and get away with it.

HaHa. Every time Im driving a certain friend home we pass a local Dunkin Doughnuts. There are always at least 5-10 cop cars parked there. They try to be slick and park in the back where its dark but I see em'.

[RANT]

I really dislike cops................... More than anything its the cop attitude that bugs the living crap outta me.

Something screwy with the internet, have not been able to get on Contour.org for several days. Anyway....

Quote:

Next: Parade detail, you get paid double OT for parade detail? Give me my tax dollars back.

Gee, I never got that. Don't participate in too many parades, but double OT? Hmmm, would be nice. I suppose we should just get regular time for over 40 hr/wk, right? Sure, my family time doesn't mean as much to me as yours does to you. It's ok, I understand...

Quote:

Next: Bullzsheit ass tickets. You know everyone writes these damn things. Why? I have my theories, either to pick up on hot chicks or quotas.

Never heard of a quota for writing tickets. Not once, and I know a lot of officers. Let's see, if a law is in the motor vehicle code, and someone violates the law, it is good for a ticket, yes? I don't see your problem here, other than you have a problem obeying the law. In that case, the problem is yours, not the officer's. Time to learn some personal responsibility, methinks.

Quote:

Next: Fat bastard cops. All huffin and puffin, thats why innocent people get shot. The fat cop can't run no more so he just shoots Julio Comacho Sanchez rather than run after him.

Yes, there are still some RODs out there. However, the level of professionalism in law enforcement has dramatically increased in the last 3 decades. To insinuate that we simply shoot someone because we can't catch them in a foot pursuit is insane. You have no idea what you are talking about. Many, MANY hours are devoted to training police how not to violate citizen rights. Our sue-happy society would never allow what you have described, and if it did happen (there are possibilities under the law, armed fleeing felon is one), the officer would go to jail. Again, you have not one clue about that which you speak. Sounds to me like you broke some law recently and would like to blame anyone else but yourself for your misfortune.

Quote:

Next: Racist cops, just like normal people, but these cops execute there power to harass.

Yes, I have seen that. I don't know how to weed that out. Realize that we are human too. I am by no means racist, nor will I tolerate that in anyone I work with. The vast majority of my stops and tickets go to white males, the demographic I belong to.

Quote:

Next: Cops who abuse there power while driving. I have never in my life seen a cop use there blinker.

Did you know that many states exempt officers from certain traffic laws? Trust me, there is enough to do, being on the look out for crime, listening/talking on the radio, observing behavior, etc etc.....

Quote:

Next: The chase scene cop, do these Officers think they are Steve McQueen in there Crown Vics? Them chasing a car thief, hustler, drug dealer, or some other petty thief gets others killed. The big eye in the sky can track em down.

Stop with the mail order subscription to COPS, and you might gain a little perspective. Better yet, go out and ride with the same officer every day for 2 weeks. See what they go through. If you think it's all hyped high speed chases, you would be sorely mistaken. Eye in the sky? hmmmm, really. I think the closest helo to where I work would be Chicago/Cook County. It would take them roughly 1 hour to get to me at top speed, and then only if they are not busy. Do you really think that every chase can be covered by air support? Do you have any idea how unrealistic that is? Do you care, or are you just wanting to make a rant (irrational) against officers because of your own bias (just another form of racism...).

Quote:

I honestly think sumin is wrong with people who want to be a cop. Either they were the bullies in HS and want to continue that BS or they were the wimps who want to get even or try and get a date!

And I honestly think there is something wrong with you. Your arguments here are irrational and seem to have been posed without thought. I don't remember you being like this, and so I have to question what happened to you. Yes, there are bad cops out there, but they are by no means the majority, and if you had a bad experience with one I am sorry for that. However, given your line of thinking here, I would be more inclined to believe that the problem was yours, not the officer's.

20 - 30 yrs ago, cops were citizens helpers. Now they are overpaid, overweight, giant ego'd donut eaters.

Overpaid, huh? Wow, really, tell that to my kids. I'm 31, work 3 jobs (if you include the Guard as a job), and only now have I been able to afford to purchase my first house- and that only because of my service in Iraq. hmmmm... wonder where all that money is going, because I sure don't see it. Overpaid? For putting my life on the line every day? Are you clinically insane?

Quote:

Yes, all generalizations but I bet I summed up 60% of the police force in this country.

The other 40% I congratualte on a fine effort and appreciate your service. You have really been there for me and others at time. You were there for the GF & daughter in that horrendous car wreck and helped out at 3am with those bastards who drove a screwdriver through my SVT's door trying to get my $60 6yr old Sony CD player out.

[/RANT]

Have a nice day Mr. Officer

No, you summed up about 2%, and in your biased (racist) thinking, applied that standard (unfairly) to all the rest.

Good day Mr. Citizen.

This has been floating around the internet for some time, maybe you should read it:

Well, Mr. Citizen, I guess you've figured me out. I seem to fit neatly in the category where you placed me. I am stereotyped, characterized, standardized, classified, grouped, and always typical. Unfortunately, the reverse is not true.. I can never you out. From birth you teach your children that I'm the boogeyman and then you're shocked when they identify with my traditional enemy, THE CRIMINAL. You accuse me of coddling juveniles until I catch your kid doing wrong. You take an hour for lunch and several coffee breaks each day, but point me out as a loafer if you catch me having just one cup. You pride yourself on your polished manners, but think nothing of disrupting my meals with your troubles. You raise hell with the guy who cuts you off in traffic, but let me catch you doing the same thing and I'm picking on you. You know all the traffic laws, but you've never gotten a single ticket you deserved. You shout "FOUL!" if you see me driving too fast to an emergency call, but raise hell if I take more than ten seconds to respond to your call. You call it part of my job if someone strikes me, but it's police brutality if I strike back. You would not think of telling your dentist how to pull a badly-decayed tooth, or your doctor how to take out your appendix, but are always willing to give me a few pointers on the law. You talk to me in a manner that would assure a bloody nose from anyone else, but expect me to take it without batting an eye. You cry "Something has got to be done about the crime!" but you can't be bothered with getting involved. You have no use for me at all, but of course it's O.K. if I change a flat for your wife, or deliver your child in the back seat of my car on the way to the hospital, or save your son's life with mouth-to-mouth recuscitation, or work many hours looking for your lost daughter. So, Mr. Citizen, you stand there on your soapbox and rant and rave about the way I do my job, calling me every name in the book, but never stopping to think that your property, your family, or maybe even your life depends on me or one of my buddies. Yes, Mr. Citizen, it's me, the lousy cop!

How can I be called a racist if I dislike cops

You must be blind or chose to ignore all the other peoples posts on this site and various other community sites screaming about unfair asshat cops. Best rethink your 2% because I'm still standing by my 40% number.

I'm glad we choose to differ, I would never expect an insider to have an objective opinion anyway, but none of your arguments have swayed me to your side. And I suspect the same for you.

Lets end this senseless bickering and go on with our lives

You can dislike cops and not be a racist. I made an analogy between bias and racism. They are very similar. Your irrational reasons for disliking cops, most of them patently false, are what put you into that category.

Really? I think you should re-read this thread. It seems that the intelligent, mature people here have quite a bit of respect for officers. It's usually the immature who do not.

Sorry to burst the flow you 2 have, but I didn't realize police still gave out the majority of parking tickets. That's for the City's parking "police" where I'm from. Not at all real police officers. And yes mine do have/like quotas. One guy got fired for ticketing everything (quota; and not cause there were bad parkers). At least people complained and he got the boot.

is there even anywhere to park in Vancouver? when I went there, we stopped at Toys R Us to see if we could find any cool non-US issue Hot Wheels.
A. we had to park on the roof
B. we had to PAY to park in Toys' parking lot! metered parking. (never seen a store charge for parking, even in beverly hills)

i guess downtown parking is that scarce?
same over here. free parking in downtown LA is an urban legend. my grandpa said he saw one once but we all think it was just a story.
