Just got back fron the track. Before I start, I am going to give my excuses. There was a slight headwind, and even the track announcer was saying that the track was horrible. Everyone was having trouble hooking up. My best run was my last one...but the timing shack clock was wigging out, so I didn't get a slip My friend was watching and said it was a 14.15, but he didn't catch the MPH. I had run a 14.2@ 98 earlier, so I would think it was around 100. The best part was I ran the 14.1 against a WRX. I actually beat him off the line (guess he didn't like dropping the clutch at 5000) , then steadily pulled away. he ran a 14.3 I think. So the bad news is I didn't get in the 13's. I was hitting 2.3 60' times, and that was about all the track would handle. I wish I had gotten a slip on the last run, because I think that was my best launch. I will be going back before the track closes for the year to give it another shot. I'll let JVT post with his results when he gets home. I'll keep you all in suspense

I've been wondering. Have any of you supercharged guys tried a second gear launch yet? How many feet from the line do you get before you're at/over 7grand in first? [assuming you're able to launch without turning the tires into licorice [sp?] pizza.]

Temp was mid-low 50s, with a headwind. Dunno how strong, but here in CLT it's 12-13mph, which is about 60 miles from the track, and the wind seems similar. As Simon says, track was in horrible shape. Both our tires and the track were cold, so it was slippery. I left the 17s with Kumhos on, as I didn't have time to put on me stock E0 wheels with the KDWs. Turns out I should have done it. Anywho, I'll list the runs that were actually worth a damn. Oh, tire pressure was 25psi. Run #1- 60' - 2.371/8 - 9.850 @ 74.44 1/4 - 15.20 @ 89.46Run #2- 60' - 2.29 (did a mini-burnout to warm up the tires) 1/8 - 9.763 @ 72.44 1/4 - 15.09 @ 90.24Run #3- 60' - 2.28 (mini-burnout) 1/8 - 9.742 @ 72.08 1/4 - 15.09 @ 90.10 Run #4- 60' - 2.36 (mini-burnout) 1/8 - 9.737 @ 74.86 1/4 - 15.01 @ 91.56 FUUUUGGGG! How close can I get to the 14s? For run #4, I installed the chip. Spark knock/detonation all over the place, but even so, it was my best run of the night. Anyway, I'm a little puzzled by the low trap speeds, as my previous best is a 15.08 @ 93.8. I'm taking a wild guess that the headwind, low tire pressure (more rolling resistance at higher speeds) and me shifting slow from 1st to 2nd, as my first two runs (not listed)I was feeling sorry for my 2nd gear synchros, and didn't wanna grind 3 times in one night. So, I'm bummed, but at least I improved my time a little bit. If I land a 2.28-2.29 60', with no headwind, using KDWs instead of Kumhos, I think I can hit the 14s. Time to get headers and a custom burn on my chip. Oh, at the time of the runs --- KKM JMiks heat shield Magnecores & Autolites double plats SMA (yes, SMA) y-pipe that leaks SHO Shop pulleys Vortech 73mm (wonder if this is possibly hurting me as well) Superchip (run #4 only) John

Have you guys tried these: I used some similar in my ProbeGT, and my 60fts went from 2.3s to consistant 2.1s... they cost about $8 for 4. (two in each spring)
Darin P 93 Probe GT About as close to 300hp as my Tranny can handle...

No kidding, all I needed was a 2.28 or 2.29 60' time that I got on runs #2 and #3 and I'd be part of the 14s crowd. We'll go again in November. John

JSVT, about the 73mm MAF, I believe it is holding you back. My experience with it is with my SHO, but still the POS 73mm as I refer to it as. my SHOs bottom end I believe suffered from the 73, but the top end was killer.
As for the spring rubbers, i tried them on my first time to the track with my car. haven't had them in since, but I'm going to next season.

Well, as stated, I went to the trac kalso, 50°, a bit of a wind, great night for racing. First run, raced a AWD Toyota Celica(?) turbo??? I guess that is what iit was. I know it was AWD from the 1.90 60' it spit at me. Not to mention I was not really racing him, I was racing the tree. Here is that run: R/T - 1.385 60' - 2.425 330 - 6.547 1/8 - 9.738 MPH - 78.60 1000 - 12.457 1/4 - 14.751 MPH - 98.69Felt good, but I laid off a bit in first, had to recover in second. Well, accidents galore sent us waiting forever. It was good for me to cool my shizzle down. 2nd Run (I am in the right lane "6357") Raced a cool ass guy in a sweet Golf GTI. He wanted to race me, I told him no sweat. He ran a 15.2 He red lighted like a b*tch... Felt great, but I knew my 60' time could really improve. I ran a 3rd time, but tripped the light, and sat there for a second seeing if the guy would reset it. Nope. 15.8 . Great night for me. All this was with the 75 shot. With the 100 shot in, I can get 14 flat, maybe high 13's (maybe??)....

I was launching at about 3500 with a little slipping of the clutch. It resulted in a little wheel spin, and then it would hook up. The thing that sucked was, when we were getting ready to leave after the lanes closed, they started to roll out the VHT traction compound Johns freind with a 99 Mustang GT went as well. Its an AT w/Pro-M maf, bassani exhaust, intake...and he was running 14.3's. He had his tires aired down to 25, and could not get traction. On the street his car wont spin the tires at all, if you floor it. So I know the track was bad.
