I need to change my oil tomorrow and figured I might as well try a K&N oil filter based on flow rate discussions. I have no idea what stores carry these filters in stock. Any suggestions?

Here in California, they are carried by Kragen auto parts. In other parts of the country, Kragen is also known by other names, one of them being Checker auto parts. I don't know who has them where you live, but it may be worth an internet search either under Kragen or K&N.

Yup,
Advanced Auto has them. (Well at least they did, I bought the last one for my MPV, it just rolled over to 15K on the clock tonight and I changed the oil.)
About $10.xx with tax, and they will take the old oil. I've dropped off a couple of gallons from the Buick and MPV.

I just put this on my SVT cause the only other option was Fram. Is it any better than other filters?

K&N is the only filter test beyond 3gpm. That says plenty. (still retains 90% or better efficiency too)

I heard Amsoil filters both flow very well and filter very well. This is what my shop uses anyway...

(sales literature) However they could provide Zero proof of actual flow rates when I asked them... (not saying they don't have it??? it's just no proof - no good - Heck a FRAM flows 3gpm and that filter isn't worth pissing on.  ) They just made reference to the standard SAE test (which is the 3gpm all filters are tested to)
