I know the zetec is a pretty dirty motor and to make it pass emissions and make everyone happy some power was taken away. Why stop at the integra why not look at the new rsx-s 210 hp... or how about the s2000 03 and below 2.0l and 240 hp. The thing is these engines were built with economy in mind and meant to be low revving torquey 4 cylinders. Now when you start modding things like cams and headers zetec gain a whole crapload of power due to emissions stuff begin ousted.

All of it. Get to modding.

well the difference is gonna differ with each car

I think there are too many differences to pick out and say "this is what makes it better" because the engines have pretty much nothing in common. It would be a different story if we were comparing the zetec and zetec svt or zetec vs zetec from zx2 s/r

I was under the impression the s2k was a rather high revving car, with peak RPM at like 8000 or 8500?

Funny you bring up the RSX. They put in the Type R cams and changed the ECU tuning to get those extra 10 ponies from the 04 to the 05- the original post has some merit to the question.

You can change cams and ecu tuning to get some gains and lower compression can be an advantage in building a F/I system around a stock n/a motor.

The RSX has something like 11.5:1 and guys do run boost but at low pressure... 5-9 psi most often...

The problem with cams or any NA tuning is the limited and usually top-end peak power curve. Not great for street driving beyond a certain tune.

Ok well I have done turbo before, but I am not doing it to this motor mainly due to the fact I need my car to be reliable. My turbo setup that I built for my 96 neon was reliable after I rebuilt the engine with lower compression, and used an apexi safc, ford motorsport 30lb injectors, a new turbo and blow off valve. I did the setup myself without using a kit and I made my own exhaust manifold. I also modded a jeep 60mm throttle body to fit. Currently I have a full length header,2.25" exhaust, udp, cold air intake, accel coil, and aem fuel pressure regulator. The last two didn't seem to do much if anything. I swapped in a mtx to replace my dead atx. I just want more grunt It accelerates well off of the line but on the freeway it seems to be running out of breath. Have bigger throttle bodies really helped these zetec? If so why not mod another one to fit like I did with the neon? Is it our intake manifold the biggest cork or the cams? Any really good gain with a port and polish? Sorry about the long post

ATX MTX swap, rear drum disc swap, drilled rotors, ported intake, optim throttle body, CAI, 7.5L MAF, adj. fuel regulator, longtube headers, underdrive pulley, no EGR, low inpedence bigger injectors, 2002 Focus Swap
