Dell has used Intel Integrated Video as standard on their base models for over 2 years. GeForce 5200s are available for $40. Yea, they don't have graphics cards, thanks for stating what i said. They cost extra. and thats only if you get one with an AGP slot! as their lower end systems usually dont have one!

They use white label hard drives of wierd companies. next time you got a chance make a boot disk for partition magic, boot into dos, and check the drivers information. Its not maxtor, western digital, or seagate, fuji, samsung, its a no name hard drive they got for $0.10 on the dollar of a normal hard drives worth.
Hitachi has made Dells base model HDs for years. Until recently Maxtor made almost all Dells HDs above their base models but Seagate has been getting an ever-increasing marketshare.White Label is also used as an expression for cheaper hard drives, not worth a crap. Maxtor is good, they moved away with it. I never said they have never used a decent hard drive. the one thats in my sisters is a hatchi. in my words white label=[censored] hard drive.

Most of the time they are 5400 rpm drives unless you get a more expensive one.
Dell hasn't sold a 5400RPM drive on a desktop since the largest HD they offered was 40GB -- and while I couldn't give you a date on that, it would have to be at least 2 years ago.not true, my sisters is 60gb, and her drive is 5400 rpm. Wanna explain that one. I recently fixed a 2.4 GHz system, that had a 5400 rpm drive in it. I remember the conversation with my dad when we both saw it labeled 5400 on it.

they give you crappy monitors that are slightly fuzzy, and less dpi, less lumins. Which means more headaches and harder to see.
All Dell Monitors are rebranded Viewsonics -- one of the best brands in the industry. We all know they are reliabled, but that doesn't change the fact they are not as good. They have lower DPI, less lumins, the quality isn't as good. back to the intel p4 and celeron deal. is stuff that didn't make the grade. just like resistors, some have differen tolerances. which are different grades, 5%, 10%, 15% tolerences. 5% being the best(aka viewsonic/p4) and 10-15% (aka dell/celeron). Is that easier for you to understand.

Dell is also known for making computers in third world companies. its not just a bunch of rumors. I have known several people who are incharge of over seas production. he said they pay people penies to build each computer. I mean talk about supporting outsourcing, and slave labor. There is a lot of factors that go into why dell componets are cheap, and break easily.
I had no idea that Austin, TX and Nashville, TN -- the two facilities were all PCs bound for North America are made -- were such havens of slave labor.
According to an employee who works at Dell, incharge of oversea's production. Are you confused? I think you are. Dell has warehouse in the US that ship from those locations, because it would cost to much to ship a computer in a week from some other country. This way they take their time sending them and cheap prices, to the customer, then at a warehouse they ship them out. I am sure they still do have some production plants in the US. but wierd how India has several properties under Dell's name that are production plants for Dell computers. They install different versions of XP on them depending on the country, and then pick the keyboard/mouse in whatever country they are in and thats how they ship. All straight from a Dell employee who makes $100,000+.
