As for video cards, they don't have one, and if they do its on the more expensive systems, they don't usually use intel boards as intel boards are more expensive.

Dell has used Intel Integrated Video as standard on their base models for over 2 years. GeForce 5200s are available for $40.

They use white label hard drives of wierd companies. next time you got a chance make a boot disk for partition magic, boot into dos, and check the drivers information. Its not maxtor, western digital, or seagate, fuji, samsung, its a no name hard drive they got for $0.10 on the dollar of a normal hard drives worth.

Hitachi has made Dells base model HDs for years. Until recently Maxtor made almost all Dells HDs above their base models but Seagate has been getting an ever-increasing marketshare.

Most of the time they are 5400 rpm drives unless you get a more expensive one.

Dell hasn't sold a 5400RPM drive on a desktop since the largest HD they offered was 40GB -- and while I couldn't give you a date on that, it would have to be at least 2 years ago.

they give you crappy monitors that are slightly fuzzy, and less dpi, less lumins. Which means more headaches and harder to see.

All Dell Monitors are rebranded Viewsonics -- one of the best brands in the industry.

Dell is also known for making computers in third world companies. its not just a bunch of rumors. I have known several people who are incharge of over seas production. he sai they pay people penies to build each computer. I mean talk about supporting outsourcing, and slave labor. There is a lot of factors that go into why dell componets are cheap, and break easily.

I had no idea that Austin, TX and Nashville, TN -- the two facilities were all PCs bound for North America are made -- were such havens of slave labor.
