Componets don't always fail to being crap from the manufacter, they fail also due to bad combinations. Dell uses the cheap unreliable parts that manufacters were gonna through away since they didn't make the cut for retail market. Hit why parts are so cheap. Now that companies know they can make money doing this with big computer companies, they are fighting and price wars are happening and dell is getting some serious deals since imo they are the #1 computer maker right now. But quanity does not make quality. As for video cards, they don't have one, and if they do its on the more expensive systems, they don't usually use intel boards as intel boards are more expensive. They use white label hard drives of wierd companies. next time you got a chance make a boot disk for partition magic, boot into dos, and check the drivers information. Its not maxtor, western digital, or seagate, fuji, samsung, its a no name hard drive they got for $0.10 on the dollar of a normal hard drives worth. Most of the time they are 5400 rpm drives unless you get a more expensive one. they give you crappy monitors that are slightly fuzzy, and less dpi, less lumins. Which means more head aches and harder to see. Dell gets by making their componets cheap. Look at world news. Dell is also known for making computers in third world companies. its not just a bunch of rumors. I have known several people who are incharge of over seas production. he sai they pay people penies to build each computer. I mean talk about supporting outsourcing, and slave labor. There is a lot of factors that go into why dell componets are cheap, and break easily.

Once again, rebutting respectfully, I repair Dells in the feild. They do not use no name hard drives. I have, in my car, a 40 gig Seagate Barracuda that I will be installing tomorrow. So what you are telling me, is that I have a fake Seagate drive. That would be... illegal wouldn't it?

As for the motherboards, like I said, I have not had a chance to really research this topic. I will say that the boards do not have Intel printed on them, but Dell. So, that is in the air.

But I find it hard to believe that someone like Nvidia would sell a boat load of their cards to a major company, knowing that the customer will know what brand it is, also knowing that the cards to not meet their standards. That just has me...

Also, I have also never heard of a component failing, just because it was not designed to be used with something other component. I mean, no... they would not work, but kill each other? I have heard of a component failing, like a memory bank, which kills a memory card, but not what you mention.

Honestly, the rest of your statements stand up for themselves and can be summed up in one statment, "You get what you pay for." And I agree, once again, with you.

And yes, Dell outsources. As do every other major company in America. So... no way around that one. I am even an outsourced employee of Dell. Just as I was an outsourced employee with Xerox for over 5 years. So is almost every tech support person you talk to on the phone, with Dell and every other major computer manufacturer.

I agree with you, in that outsourceing is EVIL, but unfortunitly it has become a necessary evil.

Okay in reponse, i have more to add to what I said earlier. its not an uncommon practice to sell parts that didn't make the grade. Example Intel sells Pentium 4 processors. Well, they also sell Intel Celeron Processors. Which are processors that didn't make the grade so Intel relabed them Celeron Instead of Pentium 4. Graphic companies sell their chips to other companies that resell them. nvidia and ati do a lot of business, but they mainly sell chip sets to other companies. that is their main business. Like me. My card is an MSI card, but with the nvidia chip set. Componets fail all the time because they were not designed to work with some things. Use low end memory in a high end system. the memory won't last long. Use and scsi hard drive, at 15000 rpms with a control that only supports speeds of 12000. it won't last as long. Dell uses cheap parts with more expensive parts on their high end systems. And yes, as you said liuke the memory bank stuff, that would be the memory card, those things are not uncommom for any computer brand, custom built or not. They are all custom built systems, just some are sold more then others. A lot more then others. Dell, is still not very good. Dell and AOL have much in common. So many people, but not a decent service/product. Compared to others out there.
