Found this on another board, thought you guys might be interested!!

"My husband works for Dell in sales. Tomorrow they are having a one day only sale on their Inspiron laptops priced over $1499, they will be half off. My husband works in sales, but in the call center, and this promo is for online sales only. This is not a solicitation for business, as there is no way at all that this could make us any money! I'm only putting this on here for anyone that is looking for a Dell laptop. It is a great sale. I am going to paste the e-mail that he was sent by his company. This ends Wednesday morning at 6am.

EMAIL RECEIEVED BY ALL SALES ASSOCIATES...(and no, we can't give anyone any type of discount, he can't sell these at all.)

Thats right, this Tuesday, October 19th at 7am CST, all Home and Home office Inspirons over $1499 will be discounted $750!

The coupon that needs to be used is: ZD5$P0NS954P16

This coupon will be an ADDITION to the free memory upgrade on select Dell Inspirons as well as free shipping (after $49 mail in rebate).

And dont forget, for all Dell employees, you can receive and additional 10% off on top of all that!

There really hasnt been a better time to upgrade your home computer until now.

This offer is for ONE DAY only and is ONLY available online. This will not be honored over the phone under any circumstance.

To process an order:

Go to www.dell.com
Click on Home/Home Office
Create your configuration
At to cart
Enter the following coupon code: ZD5$P0NS954P16
The price will be adjusted to reflect the $750 discount
If you are a Dell employee, enter the coupon that was sent to you at the beginning of the quarter.
The price will then adjust for the Dell discount AFTER the $750 discount
Continue on to process the order!

Again, there hasnt been a better time to order a Dell Inspiron than now.

Tell your family, friends, neighbors and even your postman. Everyone is eligible for this once in a lifetime discount!

This deal ends Wednesday, at 6am CST.

that is certainly legitimate, but they raise the price to a UNIT price, and THEN take the discount, so you have to have a really cheap set up in order to get a laptop for $750.

Oh well. I was about to go price out a 700. I have an 8500 and want something small now. The 600 just isn't small enough to justify having two laptops for me.

The offer was good on the 700m and 8600, but they were pulled mid-afternoon.

I ordered a 600M at 7:15am yesterday. I was debatng between the 700M and 600m. 0.7 pounds heavier, but larger screen and larger keys.

I wouldn't call my configuration a realy cheap setup:
P M 1.5GHz
14.1" SXGA+ LCD
64MB ATI Radeon 9000
512MB RAM
XP Home
24X CDRW/DVD-ROM combo\
Dell media experiance w/ remote.
Integrated wired and wireless NIC, 56k modem
30GB HDD
Parallel, serial, VGA, S-video, 2 USB 2.0, 1 PCMCIA

$842 including tax and shipping, minus $49 rebate. Not too many 5 pound notebooks with a decent video chipset/dedicated RAM, and a mobile pentium chip for $800 shipped. There have been plenty of $600-800 laptops, but all have been 7-8pounds pigs with P4 Celeron or AMD Athon XP processors.

BMR, how did you configure a 600M with those specs for $2100?
