I got me an 8600 for $805

I picked up a 700m for around $720 yesterday.. Was on the fence about it, but after they pulled the 9100s off the list, I went ahead and purchased it.. Sure enough, they pulled the 700m and 8600 later in the day.

Yes, but there are some high ticket things like faster processors and longer/more comprehensive warranty to get $600 additional quickly. Mine was $1517 before discounts.

it was probably the warranty. IIRC Dell has gotten very good at sneaking in that 24/7/365 36 month we-wipe-your-butt warranty at the bottom of the page.

I found out today, from a Dell Phone Tech Support Rep (American), that the day before this one, the Diminsions had the same deal going. IIRC, he told me something like any Dim desktop, over $2400, was 40% off. He bought an XPS, configured to cost somewhere around $3200, for just over 2 grand!!

I talked to another guy, a few weeks ago, that bought a refurbed Workstation (basically same as the XPS) for around $800!!

Man! What a deal!

After talking with both guys though, we all still enjoy building our own systems though.

Dell is good for people that can't build their own computers. I only wish they had something like this for
the Geforce 6800 Ultra cards.

I learned about the $750 off Dell deal late last night. By the time I clicked on their website the only one left was the XPS that still offered the discount.

I was looking for a low cost laptop to use at work, mainly for Internet access during my spare time. The XPS was a bit of overkill. Just for fun I still went through the customize process and ended up with a price of around $2,250 after discount.

I got all the way down to the part where you enter your credit card number before I talked myself out of it. Although I have the money to spare I couldn't justify that much on something that would mainly be used to surf the Internet or to go one up on a few coworkers who think they have the latest and greatest gadgets.

I have a Dell Inspiron 8100, it sucks monkey ballz
