i have met and seen many illegal immigrants, moreso than many people in this forum (since i live in a state heavily populated by them). Out of the THOUSANDS of illegal immigrants I have seen i would not go so far as to say that they have it "easier". regardless of legality, most day laborers (and other illegal workers) work much harder than you ever have or will.
i dont know what your ancestors did when they got here but i dont think it could have been tougher than picking strawberries in 100 degree heat all day for pennies.

this reminds me of a hispanic comedian i saw on HBO talking about Gov Pete Wilson's plans to oust all the illegals. He said then white people would have to work in the fields. He said "I would buy a field just to watch my white employee complain about how hot it is and how much their fingers and backs hurt. Then my maid Linda will come and ask me if I want more lemonade."--in other words, illegals are more than willing to do the jobs that nobody else wants to do. If it was impossible to hire them, through strict legislation and consequences, then they would have much less reason to want to come here. Of course, then our economy would be in turmoil.

truth is, a lot of Mexicans would prefer to live in Mexico but there isnt much work available. i applaud there hard work effort and determination. i also applaud the fact that they were willing to travel all the way over here (many by foot) to do menial work as opposed to working in the Narco trade, which many Mexicans (and Americans) do. now THATS taking the easy life!
