$1000 is too much. You can get a brand spankin new shortblock through Ford for ~$560. Taurus 3.0L is rated a 200 crank hp. If you can find yourself a 3.0L with the ovalport heads, id go that route. That seems to yield the best gains when mated with an port matched svt uim.
