Chances are it would be barely faster than a stock CSVT or a CSVT w/ mild mods. If you want a fast contour, apply forced induction.

the problem is fitting it between the frame rails... hmm can anyone say widebody SVT?

Why not? laugh

Seriously, a V8 SVT would be cool, but the weight the V8 has over the V6 ruins the extra power it produces.

The SHO Taurus is 3.4L not 3.9L.

It is basically a 2.5 V6 with two extra cylinders. It uses the same 60 degree V as the V6 instead of the more normal 90 degree of most V8s. They had to add a balance shaft to smooth out the vibrations caused by the unnatural 60 degree V.

Do you have room to put the SHO V8 in a Contour? Maybe, if you put the two extra cylinders in the trunk. It might be easier to do a 3.0L conversion with a stroker kit to come up with 3.4L. At least that would fit.

if anything the 3.2L v6 would be a better idea of an engine to use...that would've been a good place to start...

Also the V8 sho was the slowest one, the 3.2L 6 would be a better choice.

The v8 sho always gets the "Its the slow one" from everyone... however it makes a flatter torque curve, more hp, more torque then the 3.2 AND freaks people out when they find out the Taurus comes with a v8 .

Just remember the v8 sho atx has it all over the v6 atx. The v6 mtx is the fastest simply b/c of the manual option. 3.4 yamaha/duratec would be all over the 3.0 yamaha if the v8 came with a 5 or 6 speed. And if you want to go for a top speed run, you better believe I'm grabbing the v8 Yamaha/Duratec before I grab the suped up vulcan v6.
