Smorg,

Look at this realistically for a minute. JL has a worldwide reputation of excellence and the W7 has an rightfully earned outstanding reputation. I wish everyone had heard of the Brahma and others, but they haven't and a warranty is the last thing I can think of that would make someone choose one product over another. Think about the average buyer? How many are sensible?

The average car audio buyer likes audiobahn because they look nice and thump, hit, drone, push, slam, etc...

If you walked up to stranger on the street and laid out the facts including performance, looks, price, and warranty, I guarantee the warranty would be the least of their concerns.

dont get that alpine amp on ebay. Wow what a waste of money.

www.maaudio.com

you can buy online and get the MA Audio warranty. I know because i blew mine (my fault) and they replaced it with a brand new one even though it was my fault.

some companies are good about that, but not a lot of them..... As for MA Audio, I have only dealt with their subs, which suck IMHO. A few good choices for that w7 are Hifonics Brutus BX2200D, Phoenix Gold Xenon, Zapco C2K-9.0X, JL 1000/1 and a couple others that I can't think of right now, trying to think on 3 hours sleep. I'll come back later after some sleep....

Since when has Alpine been a waste of money? Alpine is damn clean power, and CEA compliant to boot. I wouldn't mind getting my 3552 fixed for Christmas so I don't have to rely on h/u power.

WARRANTY TERMS
(effective March 1, 2003)
These terms supercede all prior published warranty terms

JL Audio products are warrantied against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of Ninety (90) Days from the original date of purchase.

Warranty coverage is extended if the product is installed by an Authorized JL Audio Dealer OR the system design and installation integrity are evaluated and approved by an Authorized JL Audio Dealer (in writing on the original sales receipt).

The available warranty coverage extension varies by product category, as follows:
Subwoofer Drivers: One (1) Year

So how do you figure that you got a 2 year warranty? Which one sounds better now?

I bought mine august 20th or so... and i got a 2 year warrenty... and by them saying that the warrenty design has to be inspected for your year warrenty isnt anything new. Thats how it was when i bought mine, except that it was 1 yr instead of the 2 year warrenty if you build the enclosure yourself. So does this new policy mean that if you buy their box with the subs installed you only have a 90 day warrenty unless you pay them more to wire and mount the rest of the stuff so you can have only a 1 yr warrenty?

Could we be talking about mfg warranty vs retail warranty?

That is mfg warranty, 90 days materials and workmanship and 1 year on the sub itself if installed authorized.
